The Basics of Brushing Your Teeth

Did you know Dentists recommend brushing your teeth twice a day for a full two minutes? Yes, a whole two minutes! This allows you to focus on where you are brushing and the different areas of your teeth. Use short and gentle strokes, and don’t forget to focus on your gum line and back teeth. Clean the outer surfaces of your top teeth and bottom teeth, and the inner surfaces of your top and bottom teeth. Don’t forget to brush your tongue to improve your breath and clean away bacteria.

The type of toothbrush and toothpaste that you use matter! Dentists recommend using a soft bristle, small head toothbrush. This allows your brush to reach hard places and remove plaque. Replace your toothbrush whenever the bristles start to show wear, or every three months. It is also important to replace your toothbrush if you have been sick. Toothpaste is important as well! There are many different types of toothpastes out there for you to choose from. Ask your Dentist what the best toothpaste is for your teeth!

Flossing your teeth daily can improve your oral health! Floss reaches the nooks and crevices that a toothbrush can’t reach. Flossing also helps naturally whiten and shine your teeth!
